This Claymation character is too tall!

The children thoroughly enjoyed this activity. Once the structure of the story was put down on the storyboard all the children discussed and agreed to the division of tasks. Some had alot of fun making the claymation stop motion characters. It might be worth giving some tips and tricks in regard to the making of the claymation characters as follows:

Matthew who had the role of claymation character creator in his group recommends:

1 - Keep the claymation characters simple

2 - Give them big feet to make them easier to stand

3 - Don't make them too tall

4 - Keep hands clean

5 - Give them eyes

Stop Motion Animation using Objects

The children were often overheard discussing the scale of the pieces on the set. They eventually compromised once they realised that the stop motion claymation characters were limited in their size. There were a few discarded tables for instance.

Set up Camera for Brickfilm making

Once the set was complete it became obvious that the furniture had to be held down or secured in some way. They used "blu-tack" extensively (hidden from the camera) to ensure that the furniture stayed in position while lots of hands moved the claymation character during the stop motion animation process.
